Protect Man from extinction!! PDF Print E-mail
Sommaia  El Shami  - AljazeeraTalk - Cairo
That Human beings live on Earth is an established fact, but allow me to wonder whether all human beings exist on Earth?
A human being exists only when he puts his mind in service i.e.: when he is able to ASSESS all what surrounds him, to adopt certain ATTITUDES towards it and to REACT according to these attitudes. In other words, a human being exists only when he is able to produce constructive criticism and to convert this criticism into practices.
But criticism is dangerous because it begets change, the main enemy of corruption and that is why it is being fought mainly by two means; the first is quelling it in the bud by the educational system which, as we all experienced, reduces the human mind to a receiver which copies what is in the school book and pasts it in the answer sheet, a processes which is carried under the auspices of a dictatorial management of the class. This anti-thinking education is further developed by the media. People do not control or even express their opinion about what is presented and how it is presented. The greatest catastrophe is that this non critical attitude has become part and parcel of people's culture. It is "rude" to criticize, even if politely, an "elderly" or a more "knowledgeable" person.

The second means of murdering critical attitudes is killing the value of Action, a thing that robs criticism of its effectiveness. The cultured and the knowledgeable are satisfied with knowing and they save themselves the trouble of converting knowledge into action. This infected the ordinary citizen and became the main attitude in all aspects of life. A student knows that cheating is prohibited but he would not bear the trouble of advising his friend not to cheat…etc.
Killing the faculty of Criticism would eventually lead to the extinction of Man. It puts an end to Man's belief in the value of his existence and consequently in the value of the world and of all human values. It, thus, kills "Man", the Human Being and creates "man" the featureless non-existent creature. This new version of man would react to non existence either by attempting to destroy the nonsensical world or by resorting to escapism through developing a feeling of satisfaction with being swallowed in the vicious circle without even trying to think how to get out of it.

Kindly, help saving man from extinction by sticking to a critical attitude and by being wise enough to convert belief into action.

i like your article. it's simple and to the point. i agree with u that if man looses the faculty of criticism he absolutely vanishes from earth. i also agree that our eastern educational system adds to this problem as it kills our ability to be proactive and to be creative in our world.

ur article strikes a sensitive chord in human's life. Most people act against their humanity&unawares start acting like animals!!animals exist too on this planet but what the real difference between humanbeings&animals?!!it is the role of man towards his planet, to change to develope to create TO BE A MAN!!education is the essence of man's enlightenment. it is the means that shoud teach a man how to be a man!!if education fails to do this role, then it won't be education, but the art of chaos!! thank u sooo much 4 bringing up this serious point smilies/smiley.gif
