First Somali president dies PDF Print E-mail
Abdurahman Warsame - AlJazeeratalk
The first Somali president, Aden Abdulle Osman (effectionately known in Somalia as Aden Cadde) has died in Kenya at the age of 99. He was the first African leader to peacefully hand over power:
Aden Abdulle Osman will be remembered not only as Somalia's first president; he was also the first African leader to hand over power to a democratically elected successor. Elected in 1960, when the former British and Italian Somali colonies united to form the Republic of Somalia, Osman lost the 1967 presidential election and, unlike so many African leaders before and since, accepted his defeat graciously and gave up power.
While Somalia is suffering from a serious crisis of leadership, Aden Adde was probably the only Somali politician admired and respected by all Somalis regardless of clan, region or politics.

Q.E.D PDF Print E-mail
Abdallah Elshamy - AlJazeeraTalk - Lagos
Q.E.D. or quite easily done , that was the word we always used when solving a mathematical quiz at high school , it always started by a given geometry riddle , then we wrote down the wanted solution after working it out,, Ireally don't know what was the logic behind us using that abbreviation
although it wasn't really as easy as it shows.
I remembered all this when looking to the G8 Summit, here they meet once again and yet it never shows that anything is happening in reality. I mean to refer to Africa here in fact, all the supposed to be "big leaders" keep giving promises and nothing else, last year they were talking about fighting poverty in Africa. This year they are referring to fighting olio, malaria and AIDS and yet they think it is simple as Q.E.D., Because Simply NothingWas done To Achieve That .
