It has been a dream. A year and half ago the idea was still a few sketches on white paper drawn by a number of young people passionate about their own generation and their problems. Since the beginning the goal was stated. The project, later named Aljazeeratalk, needs not to know boundaries. It needs to be a whole youth project reaching out widely, starting in the Arabic countries and spreading towards the young generation across the entire world. Using the newest technologies of communication was one of the means to achieve this goal. The other one was to operate in different languages thus reaching out to different cultures and building bridges of high understanding between the different youth communities around the world.

Israeli fighter jets drawing the star of David on Arab horizons. A brief display but with indelible marks on History. On the 5th of June 1967 Israel launched a massive pre-emptive strike… aborting more than just a possible Arab offensive ...
Up to four hundred Egypt based military aircraft were destroyed in surprise attacks on air bases across the country.
On the 6th of June Israel captured the Gaza Strip defeating part of the Egyptian army.
The next day the West Bank including the old city Jerusalem was captured and annexed to Israel.
On the 8th of June Israel captured the Sinai from the Egyptian Army.
By the 10th of June Israel had defeated the Syrian army in the Golan Heights.
The fighting ended when Israel heeded UN warnings not to advance into Syria.

Mariam Itani – AlJazeera Talk - Beirut
I watch what is happening in the north of Lebanon, in its south, the bombs in Beirut and villages. Day after day, event after event, then, I just sit down and ask: Is this really the crisis in Lebanon? Is it?
Is this really the crisis: the shots and the bombs; the bloodshed of the civilians and of the soldiers, and of “Fatah al-Islam” as well; the hardships of those who left their -so called- “homes” in the “Nahr al-Bared” refugee camp; the pains and miseries of the relatives of those killed or injured; what is happening as well in other places, in other refugee camps; what is going to occur later, how hard will it be for those refugees to go back and re-build their camp, and for those injured among them to find the needed treatment that they can afford and get it, I still ask, what kind of crisis is this –if it is the crisis indeed?

Bushra Hamawy - AljazeeraTalk - Dubai
Wearing Hijab -the Islamic headscarf- while living in Syria, KSA, Egypt, Dubai or in New York, to me, has been an interesting experience. Different countries, same question: Why are people becoming obsessed by what we put on our heads, rather than what we put in our heads!
Conservative Syrians, Secular Syrians, Christian Syrians, Muslim Syrians, Atheist Syrians; it is about time we acknowledge the fact that diversity is healthy, and that -sometimes- we have no better option but to embrace it by being receptive, attentive and respectful to other people’s beliefs. Rather than being offensive, indifferent, and living happily ever after in our comfort zone where people are familiar and pleased with our ways.

Arwa el Taweel – AlJazeeraTalk - Cairo
"The leadership report was : (everything is calm on the western front, Only one killed … one thing is not only a great loss) .. though that one had friends and relatives, and unrealized dreams only" these lines from the novel writer German "Eric Marimac" in his masterpiece .. "Everything is quiet on the western front"
Every day we hear killed ... one, two, three, hundred, two hundred ... no longer affect much ... it is unusual, we were so-called A tragedy.

What do they think of us? What do we think of them? Are we really so different from our fellow, non-Muslim citizens?
We choose to live a life extremely different to a life that western societies hold so dear. But, while we live in these societies, we must incorporate certain societal rules which, will allow us to be deemed as acceptable members of society - even if we are so different. The question is though, to what extent must we abide by such social rules in an effort to integrate, without compromising our Islamic traditions? Do they want us to integrate or assimilate?
